Brooks Band Product Privacy Notice
Effective September 15, 2026 · Sensory Bridges LLC
Sensory Bridges LLC100 Cherokee Blvd, Suite 213Chattanooga, TN 37405legal@sensorybridges.comThis notice describes the privacy design of the pre-release Brooks Band device, companion app and developing professional views. Configuration, permissions and deployment agreements determine the applicable processing. Information sent through a form on this website is covered by the privacy policy in the legal center.
Section 1
Selected measurements and routine record exclusions
The current prototype compares voice-level measurements with the wearer's own calibrated baseline and uses microphone-derived environmental context. Movement and available heart-rate/IBI pathways depend on support, permission and successful capture. Skin conductance, skin temperature, sleep and other integrations remain opportunities, not confirmed current measurements. Routine records use derived event and session data.
Routine derived records are not designed to include:
- Routine conversation recordings
- Words spoken
- Conversation transcripts
- GPS or location
- Photos or video
- Contacts or messages
- Advertising IDs
Section 2
How it works
Monitoring can continue locally and queue derived records for later synchronization. Some transient audio processing may occur for enrolled-wearer verification, including cloud processing depending on configuration. This is separate from routine derived records, which are designed around measurements and summaries rather than conversation transcripts. Not every computation stays on the watch.
Section 3
Who can see what
| User type | Legal basis | Control |
|---|---|---|
| Schools and districts | School use requires appropriate consent, district/vendor agreements and applicable FERPA/COPPA review. Any school-official role is established under the relevant written agreement; school authorization covers educational use only. | The school or district controls the education records and may direct correction or deletion at any time. |
| Therapists and clinics | Role-based access to the fields the role needs. Where HIPAA applies, a Business Associate Agreement is executed before any data is processed. | The clinic decides who holds each role and can revoke access immediately. |
| Families and parents | Verifiable parental consent under COPPA for children under 13, including separate consent for voice-level data. | Parents view their child’s summaries and may review, correct, delete, or stop collection at any time. |
| Adults using the band for themselves | The wearer’s own consent. | The wearer controls all sharing and can withdraw it at any time. |
| Family courts and child welfare | Shared only with parent or guardian consent, or as required by a court order. | Court-focused access and audit controls are a development and validation pathway, not confirmed court-ready features. The band must not make findings, safety scores or custody recommendations. |
Section 4
Security
Encryption, role-appropriate access and auditability are design commitments for the developing connected views, not a claim that every control is complete in every prototype. In the event of a breach affecting school data, we notify the school within 24 hours of confirmation and provide any further notification required by law.
Section 5
Retention
Session data is kept only for the duration of the active service plan plus a short closeout period. Data is deleted or returned on request, and we provide written confirmation of deletion.
Section 6
What we never do
- We never sell or rent data.
- We never use data for targeted advertising.
- We never build marketing profiles.
- We never train AI on identifiable student data.
- We never use data outside the written agreement that authorised it.
Section 7
Your rights and how to exercise them
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of data, withdraw consent, or appeal a decision. Use the privacy request form or write to legal@sensorybridges.com. Where a school controls the records, we forward the request to the school and act on its direction.
You may also complain to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov, or to the U.S. Department of Education Student Privacy Policy Office at studentprivacy.ed.gov/file-a-complaint.
Section 8
